Choose your microphone, speaker and camera

Pick a headset, external webcam or Bluetooth device before you join or during a session, on the web and in the apps.
Platonix uses your device's built-in microphone, speaker and camera unless you pick something else, such as a headset, external webcam or Bluetooth earbuds. Here's how to choose them before you join and during a session.
> Your choice isn't remembered between sessions. To use a headset or webcam every time, make it the default device on your computer: on a Mac in System Settings › Sound (input and output); on Windows in Settings › System › Sound.
On the website: before you join
Open room: the Device settings page lets you check everything before you enter:
- Microphone: choose a microphone and speak. The Microphone activity bar should move.
- Speaker: choose where sound plays and click Test speaker.
- Video: choose your camera and quality, and optionally a background (blur or one of the background images).
- Click Join meeting.
Stage: on Ready to join?, pick your Camera and Microphone, then click Join Meeting.
On the website: during a session
Open room
- Microphone: click the small arrow on the Mute button and choose under Select Microphone. The arrow appears when you have more than one microphone.
- Speaker: click Speaker and choose under Select Speaker.
- Camera and background: click the small arrow on the Video button to open Video Settings. Choose the Camera Source and Background, then click Apply.
- On a phone browser: tap More, then Microphone, Speaker or Video settings.
Stage
- Use the small arrows on Mute and Video to choose another microphone or camera.
- Sound plays through your computer's default output. To use a headset, choose it in your computer's sound settings.
> Choosing a speaker inside the page works best in Chrome and Edge. In Safari and Firefox, sound plays through your computer's default output.
In the iPhone and iPad app
Sound plays through the speaker by default and switches to headphones or Bluetooth automatically when you connect them.
- Open room: before you join, on Ready to join?, use Flip to switch cameras and Blur for your background. During the session, tap More and then:
- Audio output to choose the speaker, headphones or Bluetooth device.
- Switch camera to change camera (or tap the flip icon on your own video).
- Stage: tap More › Audio & video settings. Use the icon next to Audio output to pick where sound plays, and Flip camera to switch cameras.
In the Android app
Platonix picks a connected Bluetooth or wired headset automatically, otherwise the phone's speaker, and switches when you connect or disconnect one.
- Open room: tap Audio in the bottom bar to choose the output. Tap More › Camera, background & audio to switch camera, set a background (None, Blur or an image) or change the audio output.
- Stage: tap More › Audio & video settings and use Switch camera. Audio output is automatic: a connected headset or Bluetooth device is used when present.
> Bluetooth headset not showing up? Allow Nearby devices for Platonix in Settings › Apps › Platonix › Permissions.
