Stream a broadcast with OBS
Support guide · 2 min read · 1 Oct 2026
Get your server URL and stream key, configure OBS, go live and end the broadcast.
Broadcast events are streamed from OBS Studio (or any RTMP encoder) instead of the browser. Your audience watches and chats.
Before you start
- A [scheduled event](/support/guides/schedule-a-live-event) with the Broadcast format.
- OBS Studio installed, with your camera and microphone added as sources.
Get your stream key
- Open the event and click Stream with OBS.
- Click Generate credentials. You get a Server URL and a Stream Key — copy each with its copy button.
> Generating credentials rotates your stream key: anything still streaming with the old key (another encoder, the mobile app) is cut off.
Set up OBS
- In OBS, open Settings › Stream.
- Set Service to Custom, paste the Server URL and the Stream Key, and click OK.
- Recommended output settings:
- Rate control CBR, keyframe interval 2 s
- 720p at 30 fps, 1500–2500 kbps — or 480p at 30 fps, 800–1200 kbps on a slower connection
- Turn on dynamic bitrate and automatic reconnect
Go live
- Click Start Streaming in OBS. Your event switches to live within a few seconds.
- Click Join on the event page to watch your own stream as the audience sees it.
End the broadcast
Click Stop Streaming in OBS. The event switches to ended. There's no separate end button on the website for broadcasts.
> Keep your stream key private — anyone with it can stream to your event. If it leaks, click Regenerate.
